Personal Contamination Monitors LB145 and LB146

The LB145 and LB146 Personal Contamination Monitors are a new line of instruments, based on a very high level of detector technology and controlled by an industrial computer. They provide the means to further improve the safety and reliability of contamination checks in radionuclide laboratories and nuclear installations in general.

Available in two versions, the beta-gamma LB145 and the alpha-beta LB146, these new monitors offer the following advantages:

  • Ergonomic and modern design
  • Operator guidance and display of results via large LCD colour screen
  • High counting yields ensures short measuring periods
  • Detector dimensions and performance according to IEC 1098
  • Moving back-of-hand detectors optional
  • Gas flow control on LB146 guarantees minimal consumption
  • Continuous background monitoring and correction
  • Data transfer and networking via RS 485 or Ethernet interface
  • User identification via optional barcode or magnetic card reader
  • Help files on-line
  • Provides results in Bq/cm2, nCi/cm2 or dpm/100cm2 from extensive nuclide listing with manufacturer's calibration factors
  • Built-in service functions including performance tests, automatic calibration and plateau taking
  • Software for standardised recurring examination routines and documentation via laptop
  • Programmable for user specified nuclides and calibration factors
standard configuration

The approach of offering beta-gamma and alpha-beta versions allows optimum measurement. The beta-gamma LB145 uses Xenon-filled proportional detectors, and the alpha-beta LB146 uses gas-flow detectors. The high counting efficiency of the new design Xenon probes for low-energy gammas and x-rays makes the LB145 particularly useful for use in Nuclear Medicine. The LB146 assesses alpha and beta contamination simultaneously. An electronically controlled gas flow valve system minimizes gas consumption.

optional moving back-of-hand detectors Additional detectors extend the application range. Moving back-of-hand probes are optional for both versions. Controlled by the user, they adapt themselves to different hand sizes, thereby optimizing counting efficiency, particularly for alpha measurement. A removeable clothing probe is also available.
