Contactless Density Measurement

Berthold manufacture a broad range of density gauges, and there is one just right for your application. All gauges feature contactless continuous measurement independent of colour, temperature, pressure, viscosity, conductivity or the chemical properties of your product. Easy installation to existing pipelines or vessels, high long term stability (+ 0.1%) through automatic drift compensation and microprocessor based evaluation electronics are features of all Berthold density gauges.

The Principle of Measurement Density Measurement is based on the absorption of Gamma radiation as it passes through the process material. Absorption is proportional to changes in material density, and as the measuring path is held constant, this indicates product density.

Detector and Evaluation Technology Berthold instruments feature precise and efficient scintillation crystals to measure the gamma radiation and send a digital signal to the evaluation electronics. High crystal sensitivity allows low source activities. Automatic drift compensation, incorporated in the scintillation crystal, compensates for the effects of temperature variation and component aging, resulting in a high long-term repeatability of + 0.1%.

Microprocessor-based evaluation electronics allow easy calibration and integration into your existing or planned process control system. Single-point calibration, a current loop output signal proportional to density, and automatic source decay compensation make Berthold units a trouble-free solution for your measurement task.
