The perfect solution The MiniLumat LB 9506 luminometer is the new instrument in the successful line of tube luminometers from the world leader in luminescence measuring technology EG&G Berthold. The growing demand for a flexible, high performance instrument has created the need to design the MiniLumat LB 9506 luminometer. Continuous research and development have enabled us to realise several significant improvements.

The flexible MiniLumat The MiniLumat offers the perfect solution for a variety of applications:

Flexible design for ultimate performance The MiniLumat LB 9506 is designed to meet the needs of our customers. Special attention was given to develop a flexible instrument that is an ideal tool for molecular and cell biology, for clinical diagnostics and hygiene monitoring. The instrument is available as a mains operation instrument or with a built in long life rechargeable battery; an important consideration when using luminescence assays for on site measurements in hygiene monitoring. 30 assays with 250 measurements each can be stored. Standard computer printers can be connected via a parallel interface to get a printout of the measured data and protocols.

Easy operation and powerful software The superior MiniLumat LB 9506 software has been developed using customers input to provide easy intuitive operation of all the powerful features. The well established dialogue structure based on a full alphanumeric keyboard and three "softkeys" has been further refined. The three basic protocols are:

• Raw data measurement for ATP and reporter gene assays
• Cut-off protocol
• Kinetic measurements (Ratemeter)
• Also available as an option: Quantitative measurements

Unique tube loading and measurement chamber The new rotating sample transport combines the following powerful features: Highest sample throughput, increased light collection efficiency, and perfect light seal for highest sensitivity.

Advanced light detection The heart of the MiniLumat, LB 9506 is the latest photomultiplier tube-based photon counting module for increased performance reliability and serviceability. The proprietary design ensures exceptional sensitivity and extremely low backgrounds with long term stability. The photon counting technology provides an extended dynamic range with linearity over more than five decades.

ATP assays The capability of the MiniLumat to detect ATP down to 20 attomoles allows the complete range of ATP based assays to be measured. The enzymatic detection of ATP with firefly luciferase is widely used in quality control, to monitor raw materials, plant hygiene and sterility or in environmental studies concerning waste water. Tumour chemosensitivity studies or antibiotic susceptibility testing are common applications.
